DESTRUCTION, ROMANCE, EVOLUTION, SEXUALITY, AND YOUTHFULNESS.
Maŕa Peralta Studio, Collection 003 ‘Destruction’ is the beginning of the evolution for MPS. Discovering hardware inspired by the architecture of New York City and its community, transforming from dystopia to a romantic utopian world. The designer parallels her music-composing techniques to create the new collection, recontextualizing materials and compositions from previous collections, diving deeply into the obsession with functionality while investigating metalwork techniques and processes. Conceptually, this collection explores “destruction” to enter new dimensions in studio design.
The collection consists of repurposed hardware and sustainable steel jewelry. Collection 003 introduces a new take on hardware utility, turning curb chain links into pendants and fixtures into chains. Collection 003 approaches a new stage in the MPS metamorphosis, focusing on steel construction and design to be durable and functional. This evolution brings youthfulness, romance, and new destruction into order.
